Reflection: Using Video Technology

I created a PowerPoint for this reflection; however, I cannot upload it to my blog.  I am having trouble formating this blog.
Using Video Technology
For the last two years, I have been using a document camera in my classroom.  I have been using it more as an overhead projector.  It allowed me to present materials to the whole class or a small group of students.  I liked being able to display books, worksheets and other assignments without having to make paper copies.  Like many teachers, I was not aware that the document camera could also be a powerfully interactive learning device for all students regardless of their level. Allowing student to use the document camera will keep them involved in the lesson and make them more excited about the subject area.  After taking this class, I have discovered many different ways to use this technology in my classroom.
  • Manipulatives such as base ten blocks, counting bears, compass, or rulers, etc
  • Demonstrate how to use a calculator
  • Show grouping, addition, subtracting and dividing with cubes
  • Demonstrate positive and negative directions
  • Give students a chance to explain/show how they solved Math problems
  • Project images and words while you read to students
  • Use a highlighter to circle vocabulary words in the story
  • Model editing techniques for DOL
  • Allow students to share poems and essays
  • Display graphic organizers to support writing
  • Virtual Field Trips
